Laundry is the Worst

Laundry is my least favorite chore around the house.  I will gladly choose scrubbing a toilet over doing laundry.  I just find it to be an exercise in futility.  Especially with children.

I’m not talking about the sorting, washing, and drying.  I love to have freshly laundered clothing.  I even really like hanging sheets or blankets outside on the wash line during the summer.  What I don’t enjoy in the least is…

FOLDING!

The blankets and towels are okay, they tend to go really fast and you see a big decrease in the size of your folding pile after each one.  Most of my husbands and my clothes get hung up, so that I can handle.  But those little baby size and toddler size clothes are just the worst.

There are so many of them.  I swear my children go through at least 3 outfits a day.  And that’s on a good day when there aren’t any potty accidents.  So… with 3 children wearing 3 outfits plus pajamas, we are looking at around 24 articles of clothing a day, plus underwear and those socks that the dryer somehow keeps eating.

There is just no satisfaction in folding those little clothes.  There always seems to be more and they take forever to fold.

To me there is nothing more frustrating then having all the clothes in neatly folded piles and the baby climbs up onto the bed and starts throwing them all around.  And that’s his FAVORITE thing to do.  Or having the 4 and 6 year old putting away there own laundry, dropping it on the way to their rooms, and just shoving in in there drawers.

Why do I even bother?

I really don’t know why I don’t just sort it in piles and let them put it away unfolded.  They don’t care if their clothes are wrinkled anyway.  Or maybe I’ll just continue leaving it in the laundry basket, clean but unfolded.
